Rania had been feeling under the weather in the past few days. She also got a little bit dizzy in the morning. but what gave it away was the fact that she had not yet gotten her period. It was late.
Once Maximus left without looking back, because he feared he would run back towards his mate, Ares entered the room.
“Are you ready my queen?” Ares poked his head into the bedroom, but Rania wrote down something on her
notes.
[I want to see Karin first.]
“But the order said that you have to leave immediately.”
[I don’t feel good. I want Karin to check on me.]
“You don’t feel well?” Ares looked worried now. “Did the king know about this?” He suddenly became concern, if the king knew, he would have called Karin himself.
Rania shook her head. [Don’t tell him, today is an important day for him. I don’t want to put weight on his mind, it will ruin his concentration and that is the last thing he needs during the battle.]
Ares read the words that was written on the notes. He agreed, but… “Stay here, my queen, I will call Karin here.”
Instead of having Rania went to the infirmary, which would take a detour, it would be better for the healer to come here and check on the queen.
Therefore, Ares mindlink a warrior to bring the healer to the queen’s bedroom. Not long after Karin was already there.
It was only the two of them alone, as Ares gave them time. He ha informed the other warrior that the queen’s departure would be delayed for an hour.
“How is it?” Rania asked, she felt her chest tightened because of the anxiety, she couldn’t help, but thinking about all the possibility that might happen.
However, she was sure with this one. She could feel it.
And she was right…
“You are pregnant, Rania,” Karin said breathlessly. She looked at Rania with complicated look. She would call her by name when no one was there, because of how close they were right now and Rania could say that Kari was the only female friend she had in this place.
Rania started to put her trust again after that traumatizing experience that she had to go through in the past. ‘Are you sure? Really?‘
She knew it. She could feel it.
Rania touched her flat belly and felt her heart warm with the thought that there was another tiny life inside of
her.
The life that she and Maximus created. The life that belonged to her. A child that he would love a whole heartedly, and a child who would love her back. She had long for this moment for a long time and now she could get it.
This was hers. The baby was hers.
Even though she just learned about this pregnancy, but Rania could already feel how heart was swollen with happiness.
Rania was excited, but it was not the same with Karin, because she knew what was at stake now.
She had told Rania that she still would be able to get pregnant, even though it would be difficult, but the real problem came when she had to give birth to the baby.
In Karin’s opinion, Rania’s body wouldn’t be able to withstand a childbirth. If something happened to her…
Karin didn’t even want to imagine what would happen to the king. King Maximus not only loved her, but he carried a huge regret on his shoulders because of what happened to Rania and their baby.
Therefore, if something happened…
Karin didn’t even want to imagine that. A quick death would be a mercy for her.
Currently, public had favored the king because he showed his compassion side, even though it was only when he was with Rania.
Lucian and Ares were a living proof that the king dotted on his mate so much, to the point he agreed not to punish the two warriors because Rania begged him not to.
If it was the king in the past, Lucian and Ares wouldn’t be alive.
“My queen… please, consider this again…” Karin spoke carefully, it broke her heart to see the happiness on Rania’s face. She had gone through a lot and she deserved this more than anyone,
However, this was not right for her.
“Rania… this is dangerous.”
The smile on Rania’s face faded when she saw the look on Karin’s face. She knew what she was worried about.
[I have drink all of your tonic regularly, right?] Rania wrote down quickly. [It will be fine, right?”
Karin couldn’t answer that for sure. She knew that Rania had drink all the tonic she made almost religiously.
She even drank the bitter tonic that restored her palate for a while. It didn’t heal her, but because of how bitter the tonic was, Rania was able to taste it.
“Yes, you are right, but…” Karin wanted to make a reasonable request, but she couldn’t think of any. Her mind was blank.
Rania grabbed Karin’s hand tightly, she looked at the healer with a pleading look, begging her to help with
this.
“Rania… this is too risky, why don’t wait for another year?”
Rania let
of Karin’s hand to write something on her note book. [You will say the same thing next year, or go next year or next year.]
Karin pressed her lips because Rania was right. She wouldn’t agree with this, the king was even more. If he could, he would have gotten rid the baby.
“Rania, please, think about this again.”
Rania shook her head, she didn’t want to consider it, the thought of losing her baby again was unfathomable.
[I want this, Karin. Please, help me.]
Called her selfish or whatever, but Rania really wanted this child. She would endure any bitterness for her baby.
Karin couldn’t give her the answer that Rania wanted to hear. “Think about the king. What will happen with him if you are gone?”
