Divorced Dazzling and Desired novel Chapter 30

**Raindrops Kissing Silent Streets – by Aadi Sharma**

**Chapter 30**

Alison’s refusal felt like a heavy weight pressing down on Renee’s chest. There was absolutely no way she could do it.

“Too busy? Forget it, then. I’ll ask someone else,” she said, her voice tinged with disappointment as she hung up the phone. The echo of the call faded, leaving her in a moment of silence. With a quick flick of her thumb, she scrolled through her contacts, her heart racing as she dialed two other friends, hoping they could come to her rescue.

Once the calls were made, she turned around, only to be met with an unexpected and startling sight that sent a jolt of surprise through her.

Jasper was already there, seated just behind her. A cigarette dangled effortlessly between his fingers as he took slow, deliberate puffs. His demeanor was relaxed, yet there was an undeniable intensity about him that made her pulse quicken.

In that instant, Renee felt as though she had been caught in the act of doing something wrong. The flush of embarrassment washed over her like a tidal wave, making her wish she could simply disappear into the ground beneath her.

“Err, Mr. Zeller…” she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.

She forced a smile, trying to maintain an air of nonchalance, though her heart was racing.

“I’m so sorry. I just realized today that you were the one who took me to the hospital that night. You’ve saved me twice now. I really don’t know how to express my gratitude.”

What kind of twisted fate was this?

In such a short span of time, their paths had crossed repeatedly. He had come to her aid not once, but twice.

The thought of never being able to repay him loomed over her like a dark cloud.

Jasper exhaled slowly, a thin stream of smoke curling into the air, momentarily obscuring his striking features. The wind picked up, swirling the smoke away and revealing his sharp jawline and those piercing eyes—cold yet captivating.

He was a paradox, both enchanting and intimidating at once.

“Your idea of gratitude is to follow me all the way here?” he asked, his tone laced with a hint of sarcasm.

Jasper’s demeanor was razor-sharp, and Renee felt like a child playing games in the presence of a master.
