**Raindrops Kissing Silent Streets – by Aadi Sharma**
**Chapter 31**
Renee raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued as she spotted the familiar figures making their way toward her. What were they doing here, of all places? Wasn’t Adam supposed to be out of town on some work obligation? The thought nagged at her, stirring a mix of confusion and intrigue.
A quiet, amused scoff escaped her lips as she observed the group approach Jasper. They were all smiles, but those expressions seemed so forced, it was as if their faces might shatter under the strain. She couldn’t help but shake her head slightly, finding humor in their exaggerated enthusiasm.
Then, Chris, ever the casual one, gestured towards a woman seated under a nearby umbrella, turning to Adam with a teasing tone. “Hey, you’re late. Your wife’s been waiting for you.”
“My… my wife?” Adam stammered, his voice barely above a whisper, disbelief etched across his features.
His gaze darted toward the umbrella, and there she was—Renee, sitting with an air of calm, her eyes fixed on them. Kayla’s expression twisted with irritation the moment she caught sight of her, her grip tightening around her golf club as she rolled her eyes dramatically.
“Seriously? Why is she everywhere we go?” Kayla muttered under her breath, frustration lacing her words.
Adam shot her a sharp look, a silent plea for her to keep her comments to herself.
He let out an awkward laugh, a nervous sound that echoed in the tense air. “Uh, yeah… car trouble on the way. Took longer than I thought. You guys go ahead. I’ll go get Renee.”
Jasper, meanwhile, wore a smirk as he continued swinging his golf club, amusement dancing in his eyes, though he chose to remain silent.
Kayla’s glare remained fixed on Renee for a long moment, her anger simmering just beneath the surface. But then her attention shifted, landing on Jasper instead.
He stood tall and lean, clad in a crisp, white athletic outfit that highlighted his toned arms and athletic build. A baseball cap cast a shadow over his face, yet even from this angle, his sharp features were unmistakable—thick eyelashes framing striking eyes, a straight, prominent nose, and a handsome visage that radiated calm confidence.
Kayla thought to herself, ‘Oh my God! That’s Jasper? The heir to the Zeller family fortune? I’ve heard whispers about him, but I never imagined he would look like… this!’
