Dumped Omega? Now Their Alpha King Begs at My Feet novel Chapter 44

Valerie's POV

I felt a sharp, cracking sensation deep inside the Elder's chest as the poison broke.

The resistance vanished, like a cord snapping under too much tension. The freezing cold receded from my arms, and I could finally take a real breath.

Dr. Albright, who was staring intently at his monitors, let out a shaky sigh of relief.

"The necrotic energy signature is gone," he said, his voice filled with disbelief. "It just… disappeared. All of it."

Kai was at my side in an instant, his hand on my shoulder. "Valerie? It's over, right? You can stop now."

I shook my head, my whole body trembling. "Not yet," I gasped, my voice hoarse. "The poison is gone, but the damage isn't. I have to fix it or he'll never wake up."

I kept the golden light flowing, but I gentled the energy, making it a tool for mending instead of a weapon. I focused on the torn tissues of his heart, the pathways burned by the poison, and carefully directed the light to knit them back together, cell by cell.

"His arrhythmia is stabilizing," Albright reported from across the room, his tone shifting from panic to pure, clinical awe. "The tissue damage… it's reversing. I'm seeing cellular regeneration in real-time. This isn't medically possible."

Each repair cost me. The golden light flowing from my hands began to flicker, growing dimmer. I felt the last of my reserves draining away, leaving a profound, aching emptiness behind. I felt the color drain from my own face, and a cold sweat broke out on my skin.
