Chapter 234 Repayment

She opened it and glanced inside-

“Remember to treat me to dinner.”

She gripped the phone, her breathing quickening. She looked up sharply at Will. “Maybe you should just stay in the holding cell?”

Going back wasn’t an option; he was already out, the matter settled. Whether she liked it or not, she owed this debt. She put the phone away without replying for now.

Will couldn’t go back to his old apartment; the landlord refused to rent to him. Anna temporarily arranged for him to stay in the company’s trainee dorm. By the time he was settled, it was evening, and they had dinner together.

Will had a drink, his eyes reddening. “Thank you, Anna, Tati,” he said softly. “If it weren’t for you this time… I probably wouldn’t have gotten out. I’m really sorry for my bad attitude before.”

“Don’t mention it. I didn’t do much. If you want to thank someone, thank Tati. It was all her. If you get famous, don’t you forget this!” Anna said it jokingly, but her words proved prophetic. Even when Will reached the top, he never forgot this promise.

Tatiana picked at her food distractedly, feeling restless. Her phone kept vibrating in her pocket.

Soon, the wooden door opened, and a familiar figure walked in.

“Sorry to keep you waiting.”

“Not long. Sit.”

They sat opposite each other. He noticed the gift box immediately, looking slightly surprised.

“A thank–you gift,” she explained stiffly.

A genuine smile slowly spread across his face, adding charm to his ordinary features. “Thank you. I love it.”

“You haven’t even opened it.”

“Anything from you, I love.”

She shouldn’t have said anything! “Don’t say that. It means nothing else, just a simple thank you for your help.”

“Mm, I know. No misunderstanding.” He opened it. A pair of understated cufflinks, almost black–blue, with tiny diamonds bordering the edges. He put them away carefully. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

The waiters brought the dishes. It was a local restaurant with traditional decor, serving local style cuisine. Naturally, it wasn’t cheap. She had chosen it after much thought, wanting to repay the favor as fully as possible.

“Do you like the food here, Tati?”

“Mm.” He paused, lowering his eyes, his expression hidden. “Tatiana,” he said slowly.
