Everest's Guardian Hubby Watched Me Freeze My Ghost Knows Where He'll Burn novel Chapter 48

Chapter 7

When we arrived at Aunt Annie’s cozy little house, she immediately poured me a glass of water. After a brief pause, she finally asked the question that had been weighing on her mind.

“So, sweetheart, what made you change your mind all of a sudden?”

Aunt Annie was truly the only family I had left in this world. My parents had divorced when I was very young, each moving on to new lives with new families. They only seemed to remember I existed when they wanted money. But Aunt Annie had never been like that—she was always there for me, no secrets between us.

I began unpacking my suitcase quietly, my voice strangely detached, as if I were recounting someone else’s story.

“Sean and Charlotte have a daughter. She’s five years old.”

Aunt Annie’s reaction was immediate and fierce. She slammed her fist against the doorframe so hard the whole wall shook.

“That son of a bitch! He gets to parade around as the perfect family man while keeping you hidden like some dirty little secret? Fuck that!”

I kept folding my clothes, my voice steady but heavy with pain as I dropped the next bombshell.

“Charlotte’s pregnant again. They’re having a second baby.”

The anger drained from Aunt Annie’s face in an instant. She froze, unable to find the words.

After a few moments of silence, she crossed the room and pulled me into a tight embrace, gently resting my head against her shoulder.

Suddenly, my phone buzzed in my pocket. I glanced down to see over ninety-nine unread messages—all from Sean.

“Did you land safely? Why aren’t you answering? Are you still mad at me?”

“Lanie, babe, I’ll come get you as soon as I finish here. Love you, wifey~”

I stared at the screen for what felt like an eternity. Then, with a deep breath, I typed two simple words:

“Landed safely.”

Without hesitation, I pulled out the SIM card and tossed it into the trash, watching it disappear from my life forever.
