From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 368

Eleanor didn’t go to the daycare in person. She just called to check in. The teacher’s update was even more alarming than what the nanny had shared. She mentioned that she often noticed bruises on Olga, and that whenever a classmate moved too fast around her, Olga would instinctively shrink away. The teacher said she had already reported this to Olga’s mom—everyone knew that meant Olga’s stepmother.

After the call, Eleanor could easily guess why her daughter had come out of Jessie Goff’s room looking so down. It wasn’t just sadness. It was fear.

“Did the results from the pills come back yet?” Max asked.

Right then, Eleanor’s friend messaged her. She opened it and, just as she suspected, the pills that looked like blood pressure medication were actually a common heart medicine. “This heart medication needs a different dose than blood pressure meds,” she read. “Mixing them up or taking the wrong amount can be really dangerous.”

Max glanced at her phone, his expression thoughtful. “You should get some rest. Let me handle this.” He walked off to his study and called his assistant.

Half an hour later, Max was back. “Remember when Patrick Lee tried to scam you and ran off to Westfield? He came back later but didn’t try to reach out. If he couldn’t get anything from you, do you think he might have gone to Jessie Goff? She is his daughter after all.”

Eleanor’s eyes widened. “That’s possible.” Patrick Lee and Juliana were once married. Juliana knew that, so it wouldn’t be strange if Patrick figured it out too. “And after he got the money, he died not long after.”

Eleanor looked at Max. “You think she did that too?”

Max gave a quiet, grim smile. “Once someone does something like that, it gets easier the next time.”

Eleanor thought of Peter Clarkson’s mother. When people start to lose respect for life, adding one more to their list doesn’t mean anything anymore.

“So what are you going to do?” she asked.
