From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 372

Eleanor started her maternity leave ten days before her due date. Honestly, ever since she and Max had finally talked things out, she’d been taking more time off. It wasn’t because she was being spoiled. This was technically her third baby, and after what happened with her second, she wanted to be extra careful this time.

Luckily, this little one was easy. The whole pregnancy went by without a hitch. No drama, no surprises, just smooth sailing until the very end.

Max insisted she get an epidural. He couldn’t stand the thought of her going through all that pain again.

The whole birth felt like a dream to Eleanor. But this time, instead of the sound of a crying baby, her dream ended with Max waiting for her, holding their son with a soft smile.

“You’re awake?” Max asked gently. “Honey, the baby’s perfect. It’s a boy. The doctor said everything went great. In a few days, you’ll be up and moving around.”

Eleanor nodded. “I want to see him.”

Max brought the baby over, careful and slow. Their son’s tiny face was all pink and peaceful, sound asleep. Eleanor smiled. “He looks a bit like you.”

Max kissed her forehead. “He looks like you, too. He looks like both of us.”

Having a baby was a big deal. When Jared heard the news, he took time off and rushed to the hospital.

He peeked at the little bundle and asked, “Eleanor, what’s his name?”

“Jasper,” Eleanor said, grinning. “Max actually found a spiritual advisor to help pick it.”

Jared’s eyebrows shot up. That was hard to picture—Max doing something like that. Eleanor could barely believe it herself. It just showed how much Max already adored their son.

Eleanor stayed in the hospital for less than a week. Friends came to visit in waves—George and Janea, Paola and her family. After a while, Max decided enough was enough and brought her home. He hired two professional postpartum nurses, one to take care of Eleanor and one just for the baby.

By the time Jasper was a month old, it was obvious he was going to be a little heartbreaker. He had Eleanor’s big round eyes, but his nose and mouth were all Max. He really was the best of both of them.

Eleanor couldn’t help but laugh watching Max struggle to dress Jasper for the first time.
