Chapter 12
Inside the laboratory, Sabrina was surprised to see Zander. “Why have you decided to come here too?”
Sebastian clapped his small hands happily. “I know, I know! It’s because Mr. Roal misses you, Mommy.”
Zander’s lips curled into a smile. “Hello, little imp. Have you been keeping an eye on your mom and making sure she eats well?”
“Of course!”
Zander then turned to look at Sabrina and said, “Cassius followed me here.”
Sabrina remained calm, even after hearing the news. “Zander, I’ve already divorced him and have nothing to do with him anymore. You know you won’t be able to leave here now that you’ve entered, right?”
Nodding, Zander replied, “I know. Everything important to me is in here, so I won’t be going anywhere else in the future.”
Immediately, Sabrina felt her nose tingling as a wave of bitterness washed over her.
She wasn’t sure how to accept Zander’s feelings now that he had practically confessed. All these years, she had only ever had eyes for Cassius. Never would she have thought that her childhood friend had been secretly harboring feelings for her.
Leaning against his chest, she murmured, “Thank you, Zee.”
Zander’s heart clenched when he heard the nickname. Ever since Sabrina met Cassius, she had stopped addressing Zander so intimately, as Cassius didn’t like her being too close to him. Eventually, they grew apart, especially since Zander knew not to overstep his bounds.
When Cassius regained consciousness, he found himself in a hospital in Belleron.
Due to the explosion, his eardrums were ruptured, and he couldn’t hear a single word Marcus was saying to him.
Marcus stared at his grandson, who had now become deaf.
The doctor arrived and examined Cassius, then reported, “Mr. Folane Senior, Mr. Folane’s eardrums are ruptured, and the insides are also damaged. I’m afraid that he won’t regain his hearing. The only way he can hear again is to get a cochlear implant.”
Cassius spoke up, his voice raspy. “Grandpa, have I gone deaf? But I found Sabrina. I have to go to her!”
With that said, he immediately got off the bed to leave.
When Marcus ordered his men to block the way, he could only glare at them with bloodshot eyes.
Grandpa, please don’t stop me. After losing Sabrina, I don’t want anything else anymore, including
Folane Group.
Cassius then left. After some preparations, he boarded a helicopter and flew straight toward the island.
However, when he arrived, he couldn’t see that steel door anywhere. If it weren’t for the charred patch of ground where the explosion had happened, he would’ve thought that he had dreamt it all.
His heart ached terribly as he cried out, “Rina, come out to meet me, please! Please come see me!”
Nonetheless, he received no response.
