Chapter 13
The teenager’s features distinctly resembled Sabrina’s.
Upon realizing that, Cassius called out, “Seb!”
Sebastian said, “Mom and Mr. Roal have already gotten married. Go back to Belleron, Dad.”
Heartbreak and despair filled Cassius‘ eyes. He kept pounding at the thick glass, saying, “No, that’s not possible! Your mom loves me. Seb, I’m begging you, please open the door. I want to see your mom. Let me see her!”
However, Sebastian just shook his head. “Dad, you can’t come in here. Opening that steel door for you is already the best I can do. I didn’t expect you not to give up on finding Mom even after seven years.”
Worried that Cassius wouldn’t believe him, Sebastian took out his digital tablet and showed him a video.
In the video, Zander was hugging Sabrina to him, and when she raised her head, he pressed a kiss to her lips.
The sight hit Cassius like a knife to the eyes, making him cough up blood.
So this was what the agony of seeing the woman he loved engaging in such intimate behavior with another man felt like.
He had thought of the possibility that Sabrina would get together with Zander out of gratitude or because his sincerity touched her. However, it had never crossed Cassius‘ mind that she would truly fall out of love with him and instead fall in love with Zander.
That light in her eyes was a look he was all too familiar with, as she had looked at him with that exact same gaze for ten years. It wasn’t until Natalie’s appearance in their lives that it gradually dimmed and disappeared.

Cassius couldn’t stop coughing, and the blood splattered onto the glass.
Sebastian instantly grew panicked and concerned, shouting, “Dad! Dad!”
Lost in his violent coughing fit, Cassius thought he caught a glimpse of Sabrina. He forced himself to open his eyes, only to lock gazes with her as she looked up.
Seven years. This was the first time they had seen each other in seven years.
This time, it was Sebastian who begged Sabrina, “Mom, please, let Dad in!”
“No. This is the laboratory.”
“Then I’ll go out.”
Sabrina knew that, in the past seven years, Sebastian would occasionally sneakily check in on Cassius using the surveillance cameras. Nonetheless, she hadn’t said a single thing.
She asked, “Seb, you understand that going out means you won’t be able to come inside again,
right?”
Sebastian’s eyes were misty as he replied, “Mom, I’ve forgiven Dad. He can’t keep going on like this. I want to go out and spend some time with him. After 23 years, I’d be all grown up and can come pick you up.”
”
In the end, Sabrina failed to convince Sebastian to stay. She opened the door, but it was so that
Sebastian could leave.
Through the glass, she could see Sebastian slinging Cassius over his small frame. Images of an 18- year–old Cassius rose to the front of her mind. Much like his father had been, Sebastian was an unruly youth who constantly had a roguish smirk on his lips.
Yet, at that moment, he was looking at Sabrina with tears in his eyes.
