Wilma was just as thoughtful as ever, already waiting with breakfast set out for her.

“Good morning, Miss Taylor. Mr. Murphy left for the office at dawn—he had an early meeting. Before he left, he made sure to tell me that you should have something to eat before heading to work. He said you’re not allowed to skip meals just because you’re busy!”

Every day, Leonard reminded Wilma to take good care of Marguerite.

The real reason he’d brought Marguerite to live in his house was simply to make sure Wilma could look after her. Now that she was managing work on her own and living far from her parents, Leonard knew she'd just end up grabbing something quick or skipping meals altogether if left to herself.

After breakfast, she arranged to meet Laura at their small studio apartment—a place they’d rented together before leaving their old company. Now that they were on their own, it was the perfect base of operations.

They’d originally found the apartment so Laura would have somewhere quiet to work when she wasn’t at the office. Neither of them expected it to become their new headquarters, but it turned out to be a stroke of luck.

Luke had messaged earlier too, saying he’d found a patent that could be a perfect fit for their business. They’d set up a meeting for later that afternoon.
