Goodbye My Arrogant Ex novel Chapter 107

Marguerite spoke slowly, explaining what had happened that day—though, in truth, she’d already told them the story when the three of them met earlier. Still, she wasn’t sure if Leonard truly believed her.

Leonard’s brow furrowed. “I’m your fiancé now. When you need help, why am I not the first person you turn to? Why is it always someone else?”

Was he seriously questioning her about this?

Marguerite felt thrown off balance, uncertain how to respond. “You’re overthinking it,” she said, her voice slightly shaky. “Luke’s working on a similar project right now, and we’re good friends, so it made sense to ask him. Besides, I know how busy you are every day. I didn’t want to bother you with something so minor. If it had been really important, you’d be the first person I’d go to, I promise!”

She paused, searching for words. “I guess I just wanted to handle this on my own for once. The reason I asked Luke is because I wanted to collaborate with him, not because I didn’t trust you.”

Nerves crept in, making her explanation sound awkward even to her own ears. Was he honestly upset about this? Did it really matter so much to him?

She could see he cared, even if he tried to hide it—his concern was unmistakable.

Leonard’s voice softened, though his possessiveness was clear. “Next time something like this comes up, come to me first. I’ll find a way to help you. I don’t want you turning to other men when you need support.”

He truly did care about her, and the thought of her spending time with another man—even for something as innocent as a meal—made him uneasy. They weren’t officially engaged yet, but seeing the woman he loved with someone else was enough to make his heart burn with jealousy.
