Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 136

“We have just as much right to be here as anyone else! This is our home too, and we’re not just going to hand it over. I’m not leaving until I get some answers today—no matter what you say!”

Edith was determined to cause a scene, refusing to back down. No matter what happened, she had no intention of leaving.

“Have you all finished yet?” Leonard snapped. “If anything happens to Grandma today because of your tantrum, I swear I’ll never forgive you!”

“Who takes over the company is up to Grandma. How much have you actually done for the company? What makes you think you can judge her decisions?”

Leonard had tolerated their family’s antics for far too long. Usually, he didn’t bother wasting his energy arguing with them, seeing it as pointless, so he’d always kept his opinions to himself. But today, seeing how pale Grandma looked, how she clutched her chest, he couldn’t stay silent. On her birthday of all days, the house was in utter chaos.

Leonard hadn’t even finished when Aaron shot back, “Don’t act all high and mighty just because you lucked out, Leonard. The company’s only yours because we let you have it. You really think you’re something special?”

“I haven’t even started on you yet! You think you have the right to lecture us? Have you even handled your own mess? Because of you, someone’s life was ruined—and yet you married another woman. You’re the one with no conscience.”

Aaron, fuming, blurted it all out in front of Marguerite, assuming she still didn’t know what had happened in the past. He did it on purpose, just to see how Leonard’s so-called fiancée would react. Maybe she’d leave Leonard on the spot.

She turned to face Aaron and Edith, her patience finally at its limit. “Aaron, Edith, I know you may not like me since I joined this family, and that’s fine. I’m not here to interfere with your lives. But Grandma isn’t young anymore. If you keep fighting like this, you’re only hurting her. For her sake, can’t you stop?”

Marguerite had held her tongue long enough, but she couldn’t just stand by anymore. It was Grandma’s birthday, and no matter what year it was, there was no excuse for this kind of behavior.

“Oh, listen to her—does she really think she’s part of the Murphy family now? Nobody asked for your opinion!”
