Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 150

She lay curled up on the bed, looking pitiful as she tried to win his sympathy, but the tears wouldn't stop streaming down her face.

People are at their most vulnerable when they're sick, she thought. Surely Leo would feel sorry for her. She didn’t think she was being dramatic at all.

“Winifred, I’ve got a mountain of work waiting for me. Can you *please* behave and stop being so stubborn?”

“Do you realize how dangerous what you did yesterday was? You’re burning up with a high fever—why didn’t you go to the hospital? Are you playing games with your own life? If you ever do this again, I swear, I won’t care what happens to you!”

Leonard was furious about what had happened today, but more than that, he felt deeply disappointed in her. Every single time, he took care of Winifred in every possible way. And every time, she used it to test his limits.

But his patience was running out. If she pulled something like this again, he honestly didn’t know how much more he could take. Frankly, he didn’t see the point in arguing with her anymore.

“Leo, don’t be mad, please. I get it, okay? I was wrong, can’t you just forgive me?” Winifred’s voice cracked with emotion. “I didn’t want to come to the hospital because I’m scared. I hate hospitals. I don’t need some family doctor hovering over me—I’m really afraid of them.”

Her tears spilled over, her voice growing louder and more desperate.

Leonard used to be so patient, no matter how much she acted out. He never once raised his voice at her.

But today, he was actually yelling at her, just because she hadn’t gone to the hospital. She couldn’t believe it—she simply couldn’t accept it.

“Enough. Stop crying. I’m leaving. I’ll send someone to take care of you.”

With that, Leonard turned on his heel and walked out, not wanting to face her a moment longer.

Winifred was left alone, lying on the hospital bed, staring in disbelief at his retreating back.

Leonard left the hospital and headed straight back to the office. He’d already come all the way from the family estate; going back again would be pointless and exhausting.

But Marguerite was still at home. They’d planned to visit his grandmother together and keep her company for the day. Now, with everything that had happened, he’d have to leave the old woman by herself.

Leonard sent Marguerite a message letting her know he was back.

Marguerite was puzzled. Hadn’t they agreed on their plans? Why was he home so soon? Still, she didn’t ask questions. Maybe something urgent had come up at work, she thought, and decided not to bother him.

Half an hour later—

Leonard’s name exploded onto the trending news. Every major media outlet was running the story.
