Goodbye My Arrogant Ex novel Chapter 19

Without warning, he shot out a hand and clamped down hard on Marguerite’s wrist—so fiercely it felt as though he might crush her bones.

Marguerite winced in pain, her brow knitting as she struggled to break free. But Benjamin’s grip only tightened. He yanked her toward the car, rough and unyielding, his words coming in a bitter rush.

“I know what this is about. You’re angry because I’ve been busy lately and haven’t been there for you like I used to. So now you’re taking it out on Fiona, picking on her on purpose, aren’t you?”

Fiona stood to the side, eyes shimmering with what looked like innocent tears. Her voice was soft and sweet as she chimed in, “Ben, don’t be like that with her. She only lost her temper because she cares about you so much—she didn’t mean it.”

“This is all my fault, really. I keep getting in the way between you two. Maybe I should just go back to the countryside, so you won’t keep fighting because of me.”

She acted like she was trying to make peace, but every word she spoke only stoked the flames, fueling Benjamin’s anger toward Marguerite.

Marguerite stared at the two of them, playing their little duet, her head ringing with fury. She wished she could grab a bucket of ice water and throw it in their faces, just to snap them out of this farce.

Fiona clung to Benjamin’s sleeve, as if letting go would make him vanish.

Benjamin, meanwhile, still had Marguerite’s wrist locked in his other hand, trying to maintain control of the situation. Yet he managed to glance back at Fiona, his eyes gentle and reassuring as he murmured, “Don’t worry.”

Marguerite’s eyes blazed, her anger boiling over. Suddenly, she seized Benjamin’s wrist with her free hand, squeezing so hard he might have thought she’d snap his bones.

In the next instant, she spun around, her long legs slicing through the air. With a sharp, whistling kick, she landed a punishing blow squarely between Benjamin’s legs.
