Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 194

Mrs. Taylor couldn’t help but remind the two of them once more. After all, it seemed like neither of them had really taken their engagement seriously yet. Yes, the mothers had taken over the planning, but Leonard and Marguerite still needed to take some responsibility for their own engagement.

“We trust your taste and your judgment—both you and Mom. That’s why we’ve been happy to let you handle everything,” Leonard said with a warm smile.

If Leonard truly wanted to organize the event himself, he knew he could do it well. But lately, time had been tight, and honestly, seeing his mother and future mother-in-law so invested—and so pleased with every detail—made him want to let them have this. Watching their satisfaction gave him a sense of pride, too. He liked making them happy.

“I really am so thrilled,” Mrs. Murphy chimed in, her tone light and genuine. “I never imagined my son would get engaged so soon—and to such a wonderful young woman! If I didn’t adore my future daughter-in-law, I wouldn’t bother with any of this. I’d rather spend my days playing cards and enjoying myself.”

She wasn’t shy about her feelings, and there was no mistaking her sincerity. She took real pleasure in making these arrangements, and more than anything, she truly wanted the two of them to be happy together.

“Thank you. Really, you’ve both done so much for us,” Marguerite said gratefully, glancing between the two mothers. She knew how much effort they’d put into the engagement.

“This is what we’re supposed to do,” Mrs. Taylor replied, her eyes shining. “Seeing you two together makes all of it worthwhile. We’re just so happy for you.”

“All right, weren’t we all going out together today? Let’s hurry and get ready—otherwise we’ll never make it out the door,” Leonard called, stepping into the room with a cheerful nudge.

He’d barely finished speaking when his phone rang.

But he couldn’t just abandon Winifred, either. He’d invested so much already, and if he kept at it a little longer, maybe things would finally turn around. Maybe it wouldn’t be so painful.

“We’ve already told him to contact you, but he refuses. He won’t cooperate with treatment at all, and we’re at our wits’ end. That’s why we called you.”

“He’s locked himself in his room and won’t come out for anything. We honestly don’t know what else to do.”

The staff’s voices were filled with frustration and desperation, their resolve pushed to the limit by a patient who refused help at every turn and treated everyone around him with open hostility.
