Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 203

“I’ve never once regretted what I did for him back then, nor did I ever expect anything in return. Honestly, the fact that he’s done so much for me—that’s more than enough. I never wanted to bring this up, and I think it’s best if you all just let it go. After all, today is his engagement party.”

Winifred loved watching everyone fuss over her, basking in the attention as if it were her birthright. Though her words sounded gracious, deep down, jealousy gnawed at her heart.

If that woman hadn’t shown up, it would’ve been her standing next to him today, exchanging vows. It was all because of that woman—she’d stolen everything that was supposed to be hers.

Winifred was determined to take back what she believed rightfully belonged to her. She’d expected today’s engagement to be full of drama and chaos, but everything was unfolding far too smoothly.

That was precisely why she’d come: she wanted everyone to see just how wretched she was now—and exactly whose fault it was.

And, truthfully, she was here to watch the spectacle. She’d expected the Taylor family to make a scene, but to her surprise, everything remained calm.

Well, if no one else was going to stir things up, she’d do it herself.

She had already dug up every last detail about Marguerite’s ex-boyfriend. Now, with a sly smile, she pulled out her phone and sent him a video.

……

Thirty minutes later.

The engagement ceremony was about to begin. The officiant was already in place, ready to invite the couple onstage.

“Ladies and gentlemen, good morning. Welcome—”

Marguerite let out a laugh—sharp and incredulous. “Who do you think you are, Benjamin? Since when do I need your approval to get engaged?”

“Marguerite, I’ve waited so long. I thought you were just being stubborn, refusing to make up with me. Never in a million years did I think you’d actually go through with this! Do you have any idea what I’ve been through?”

“And for the record, I never agreed to break up. I never thought you’d actually move on and get engaged to another man. You’re being completely irrational!”

Benjamin was practically shouting now, emotionally unhinged and clearly determined to cause a scene. He looked ready to drag Marguerite off the stage.

Marguerite just laughed again, her tone biting. “You really are unbelievable, Benjamin. Let me spell it out for you one last time: who I marry is none of your business. Even if every man on this planet disappeared, I still wouldn’t marry you!”

Leonard, watching from the sidelines, could see Benjamin was dead set on ruining their day. Whatever he was planning, it couldn’t be anything good.
