Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 225

Although elderly Mrs. Murphy was still lying in her hospital bed, her mind had already drifted back to the office. Even though she no longer managed the company herself, she couldn’t help but worry that something might go wrong in her absence.

“Grandma, Leonard’s just been really busy these last couple of days, and there’s a lot happening at the company,” Marguerite reassured her gently. “But don’t worry—he told me yesterday that most of the issues have been sorted out. With him in charge, you really don’t have to be concerned!”

“What you need to focus on now is getting better,” Marguerite continued, her voice warm but firm. “That way, we’ll all feel more at ease. Besides, if you’re not in good health, you won’t be able to give your best at work even if you do go back.”

Marguerite understood immediately what her grandmother meant, and she knew deep down that everything Mrs. Murphy did was, at its core, for the company.

“You’re right, you’re right. I handed the company over to him, and I ought to trust him,” Mrs. Murphy conceded, a small smile tugging at her lips. “Honestly, sometimes I’m quite proud—he’s more capable than I ever was in many ways.”

“I’ve noticed he’s got incredible poise. No matter what comes his way, he always finds a way to resolve it.”

Mrs. Murphy truly respected Leonard’s ability to run the business. She wouldn’t have handed things over to him so readily otherwise, though sometimes she still couldn’t help but worry. Even at her age, she still cared deeply about the company.

“Don’t worry, Grandma. We should trust him,” Marguerite said softly.

Inside, Marguerite felt a pang of guilt, especially after seeing Leonard working late into the night, day after day, looking noticeably thinner than before. If it weren’t for her, maybe he wouldn’t have been under so much pressure—but there was no use dwelling on the past. She couldn’t change what had already happened.

“Grandma, it’s our duty to be here with you,” Marguerite replied, her eyes bright with happiness. “It’s your discharge day—we’re all so relieved and happy. Let’s have a nice meal together as a family.”

Since Mrs. Murphy’s hospitalization, Marguerite had been carrying a heavy burden of guilt. Now that Grandma was finally well, it felt like a huge weight had been lifted from her shoulders.

“Alright, alright! I’ve already asked the chef at home to prepare dinner. Today, we’ll all sit down and eat together,” Mrs. Murphy said, her smile genuine. She cherished these moments with her family—especially when everyone could come together under one roof.

With everyone’s busy schedules, it was rare for them to share a meal like this. Mrs. Murphy treasured these family gatherings, knowing just how precious these moments truly were.
