Goodbye My Arrogant Ex novel Chapter 24

“Maggie is just too headstrong. Not only did she hurt you, but now she’s out all night and hasn’t come home. She wouldn’t be out there…”

Fiona deliberately let her words trail off, a sly glint flashing in her eyes as she paused, lips curling with a suggestive smile that left plenty to the imagination.

As she spoke, she kept sneaking glances at Benjamin, watching his reaction.

Benjamin’s brows were drawn tight, his face so dark and thunderous it looked like a storm was brewing.

Fiona’s heart skipped a beat. She quickly changed her tone, feigning understanding. “But maybe Maggie’s just acting out of spite. Still, a young woman spending the night out like this—if word gets around, it won’t look good.”

“You should get some rest.”

Benjamin cut her off, his impatience plain.

He forced himself to stay upright on the couch for a few more minutes before finally standing and heading out to work. The whole drive to the office, his face remained stormy, and the tension in the car was so thick it felt suffocating.

When he arrived at the office, Benjamin strode straight to Laura’s workspace.

Laura was buried in paperwork, but the moment she heard footsteps and looked up to see Benjamin’s scowling face, her heart dropped. This couldn’t be good.

“Where’s Marguerite?” Benjamin demanded, his voice cold and brooking no argument.

Laura hesitated. Marguerite had specifically told her not to reveal her whereabouts, but seeing Benjamin’s expression now, Laura couldn’t help but feel anxious. After a moment’s internal struggle, she finally forced herself to reply, “Mr. Foster… she’s on a business trip.”
