“This way, things will be easier for both of us!”
Marguerite’s dream was to grow her studio bigger and bigger, with more people joining every year. He wanted to build something of his own—a real career he could be proud of.
Even though he didn’t have any grand ambitions or lofty goals right now, doing what he loved made every day feel brighter.
“Absolutely! Sure, sometimes the work is exhausting for both of us, but every single time I finish a project, I feel genuinely happy. There’s this real sense of accomplishment.”
“Mr. Taylor, I’m honestly so lucky to have met you. You’ve let me be your Laura all this time, and sometimes I can’t believe how happy that makes me.”
If only she could have the kind of love she longed for, then life would be perfect. But reality was rarely that simple. Sometimes, wishing for more just made everything feel heavier.
“You know, it was hard for me at the beginning too. If you hadn’t been there helping me every step of the way, I’d never have made it this far. I owe you so much, and I’ve told you before—I won’t let you down. I’ll prove to you that working with me is worth it!”
Marguerite had always treated people kindly. Ever since the studio’s two main projects stabilized, he’d made sure Laura got a generous share of the profits. That’s why their partnership kept growing stronger.
Honestly, they’d clicked from the start. Working together only brought them closer, because they always looked out for each other. That’s what made their relationship so solid.
That evening, the two of them headed to a cozy restaurant to meet up with Luke for dinner.
Luke was genuinely impressed by the elegant gift box, and for the first time, he looked at Laura with newfound appreciation.
“Of course she did! Laura spent an entire day searching for the perfect gift for you, so you’d better take good care of it!” Marguerite chimed in, doing his best to help the two of them warm up to each other.
“Don’t worry. If it comes from a beautiful woman, I’ll definitely treasure it. And thank you both for coming out tonight to celebrate with me.”
Luke had never celebrated his birthday here before. In fact, he’d stopped caring about birthdays altogether, sometimes even forgetting the date. Tonight, though, felt different.
