“You heard it yourself just now—Leonard’s practically ready to walk away from the company. Since that’s the case, I’ve come up with a better plan!”
Aaron was never short on ideas, and now that he was dead set on taking the company back, nothing was going to stop him.
“Every time you talk big about these things, you say you have a plan. But up till now, I haven’t seen you pull off a single good one!”
“That’s because, until now, I hadn’t heard him say it himself. Before, Grandma would never have let him leave the company, but now that he’s thrown in the towel, I think Mom’s just putting on a show.”
“I’ve decided to call your brother back. Something this big has blown up at home—he can’t just stay in the dark. After all, he deserves to know what’s going on. Besides, Mom’s health is getting worse. If he comes back, the house will be in chaos, no doubt about it.”
“And if things turn into a mess—well, at least we’ll have someone else to blame. So, there’s no need for us to take the fall alone!”
Aaron had been planning this for a while, running through every possible scenario in his mind. With so much happening at home, it was only right that his brother knew. He couldn’t keep hiding out overseas, living the easy life.
“Aren’t you worried he’ll want to take over himself?” Edith couldn’t help but voice her concern.
“Relax. He’s never cared about the company, and after all these years abroad, do you really think Mom would let him take charge, even if he wanted to?”
“Hey, it’s me. I haven’t reached out in a while because things have been really messy here. I wanted you to enjoy your life abroad, and I know things have been going well for you. But things at home have gotten out of hand, and I can’t keep this from you any longer.
“Mom’s health is shot—she can’t manage the company anymore. But instead of keeping it in the family, she handed it over to someone outside, and it’s not even your son. If it were your own kid, I wouldn’t mind, because it wouldn’t make much difference to us. But now the family’s in complete turmoil. I really think you should come back and help sort this out. If we work together, I know we can turn things around. And if Mom knew you were coming home, she’d be thrilled.”
He laid out everything that had happened over the past few months.
“Brother, something this huge and you’re only telling me now? I always felt something was off—so he’s not even my biological son. No wonder he and I never got along.”
