Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 309

He was just as anxious about the whole matter. After all, he’d already steeled himself for the surgery, and he’d even brought in a truly reliable specialist. He’d spent months researching every detail, and if he weren’t absolutely certain, there was no way he’d let his grandmother go through with it.

“I haven’t had a chance to talk to Grandma yet,” Marguerite said. “When I went by her place today, there was an emergency at the office and I had to rush off, but I’ll tell her about the surgery soon. Don’t worry.”

Marguerite was carefully considering how to bring it up with her grandmother, wanting to give her some time to rest and think things over, which is why she tried to reassure him.

“It’s all right, there’s no need to rush,” he replied. “Just talk to her sometime in the next few days when you get a chance.”

He had his own work piling up every day, and he didn’t want Marguerite’s time consumed by his family’s affairs.

“By the way, how’s your brother doing? I haven’t seen him around the office lately. We’re supposed to be working together on this new project, but he seems completely unmotivated, and honestly, he hasn’t shown much interest. I don’t need him to take on too much, but I am worried about him—he can’t keep going on like this.”

Leonard’s concern was genuine. Now that they were family, it pained him to see Hogan in such a state.

The next day, Marguerite arranged to meet Hogan.

“Leonard mentioned you haven’t been yourself lately. You haven’t really been focused on work either,” she said gently.

“He meant well. Also, your sister told me she thinks you should take a break, some time alone to clear your head. But honestly, avoiding everything isn’t the answer. What happened with your relationship is in the past now. Since you’ve both made your decisions, the only way forward is to start moving on.”
