Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 311

“Marguerite, could you try reaching out to Hannah for me again? Honestly, I haven’t been able to let her go these past few weeks—I think about her every single day. I’ve pictured a thousand scenarios where I just show up at her door, but I just don’t have the courage. And, honestly, I’m afraid she won’t even want to see me.”

“She told me once that she really liked your personality, and she wanted to be friends with you. I think if you went to her, there’s a good chance she’d agree to meet. I want to try one last time—just give it everything I’ve got. If after this she still doesn’t want anything to do with me, I’ll finally let her go. But if I don’t even try, I know I’ll never be able to move on.”

Hogan finally let his guard down and spoke from the heart. He’d thought about reaching out so many times, but every time he tried he found himself paralyzed by fear.

Lately, it was all he could think about. Each day felt worse than the last, every moment weighed down by regret and longing. He just wanted to see her again, to at least try to set things right.

“Are you sure you want me to do this?” Marguerite asked gently. “She might have already put all of this behind her by now. Maybe she’s even forgotten about you.”

It wasn’t that Marguerite didn’t want to help; she just wondered if it was worth reopening old wounds.

“I’m sure,” Hogan replied, resolute. “I need to try one last time. If she still refuses, I’ll let go, I promise. But I care about her, more than I can say. I still value what we had, and I don’t want to lose it over a misunderstanding.”

He sounded more certain than he had in weeks. Whatever happened, he was ready to face it. He had to try—he owed it to both of them.

Marguerite could see how much this meant to him. Even if she had her own doubts, she couldn’t turn him down. If there was anything she could do to help Hogan, she would.

The next day.

Marguerite cleared her schedule and went straight to see Hannah.

She’d sent Hannah a message, half-expecting to be ignored. To her surprise, Hannah replied almost immediately with her location.

Marguerite hadn’t expected that—hadn’t expected Hannah to be so warm, so willing to talk. It gave her hope; if Hannah really didn’t care about Hogan anymore, why would she bother to see her at all?
