Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 328

“If anything happens at home, please don’t let it upset you. Don’t worry—I’ll take care of everything. Honestly, I could even walk away from the company and hand over control to them if needed. But if there’s something you need me to do, I promise I’ll do my best. Whatever you ask, I won’t say no.”

“To be honest, I’ve never really cared much about the company. I don’t want to inherit anything or look into all that. I just want you to stay safe and be with me. That’s all I hope for.”

His grandmother smiled gently. “I know you’ve never wanted any of this, but I won’t feel at ease unless you’re the one taking over. I know it’s not fair to you, putting so much pressure on your shoulders, but I need your help to get through this difficult time.”

She reached out and squeezed his hand, her voice unwavering. “This is my decision, and I’m not going to change my mind. Even if both of my sons disagree, I’ve never considered passing the company to anyone else—especially not to them.”

She knew her sons too well. If she gave them the reins, the company would be stripped bare and bankrupt within a year. They would never cherish the legacy she’d spent a lifetime building, nor understand the sacrifices behind it.

Leonard looked at his grandmother, his concern plain. “If this is what you want, I won’t argue anymore. You can count on me—I’ll do right by the company. But you have to promise me you’ll take care of yourself. Don’t let these worries affect your health.”

“I should get going, Grandma. There’s still work waiting for me at the office, and I won’t be able to stay with you today. If anything comes up, call me right away—and if they show up here again, let me know.”

As he left the house, a heaviness lingered in his chest. He couldn’t shake the sadness, no matter how he tried.
