Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 333

Hogan suddenly remembered the whole thing as well. They’d been planning to meet up for a while—originally, the idea was to sit down with their parents and talk about getting married after the introductions. But after everything that happened last time, those plans got put on hold. So, they hadn’t actually managed to see each other yet.

His mother had been eager to meet his girlfriend—her future daughter-in-law—because, in all these years, she’d never seen her son care so much about anyone. She was determined to treat this girl with genuine warmth, knowing how happy Hogan was now, and wanting nothing more than to see her son’s happiness last.

“That sounds good. Honestly, it’s been ages since we went home, and I haven’t really had a proper chat with Mom in so long. I’ve just been swamped with work—there’s always something going on at the office or at home,” Hogan said, running a hand through his hair.

“This time, when we go back, I’m going to stay for a few days and really spend time with Mom. I know she misses me, and even though she hasn’t called, I think she’s just trying to give me space,” he added, a note of guilt in his voice.

Ever since Marguerite and her mother made up, she’d cherished every moment they spent together. Work kept her away most of the time, but there wasn’t a day that went by when she didn’t wish she could be home with her mom.

It was only now, after everything she’d been through, that she realized how genuinely happy and relaxed she felt in her mother’s presence. Honestly, she regretted not listening before—spending her time with someone her mom could never accept, someone her family didn’t approve of.

“Mom and Dad have actually been off traveling these past few weeks—they’re having the time of their lives, barely even thinking about us. But once they get back, Mom’s going to be thrilled to see you. Word is, she’s brought home a whole pile of gifts just waiting for you to open when you visit.”

Hogan smiled. “And you’re the best sister anyone could ask for. Don’t worry, you’ll always have me and Mom and Dad behind you. No matter what happens out there, we’ll do everything we can to protect you. That’s a promise.”

“My only wish for you is that you stay happy every day. Don’t let anything get you down, and don’t be too hard on yourself. As long as I’m here, I won’t let anyone hurt you.”

He felt protective of his sister—he’d hoped Leonard would be the steady, reliable partner she needed, someone who’d help shoulder her burdens. But ever since she’d gone to Leonard’s family, she’d suffered far more than she deserved, especially with the way his relatives treated her.
