Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 346

“You’re awake, ma’am. I’ve made you some breakfast. You should have a bite before you head to the office. Mr. Murphy was very specific—he told me to make sure you ate before you left.”

Wilma had the meal ready, just as Leonard had instructed before he left that morning. It was the same routine every day, his quiet way of showing Marguerite how much he cared.

Their relationship wasn’t a whirlwind romance, but he expressed his love in a thousand small, thoughtful gestures that showed his world revolved around her.

Ever since the trouble with his family started, Marguerite had been his constant shadow, a steadfast presence as he navigated one crisis after another. He was deeply moved by her loyalty and had long since accepted that she was the woman he would spend his life with, certain she would never leave his side.

But he never imagined that everything he was doing might not be enough. He was beginning to suspect that what she needed from him was something more, something deeper.

His way of expressing love was different, he knew that. Perhaps that was the root of her unhappiness. The thought had kept him up all night, turning over in his mind how he could possibly fix the growing distance between them.

“Thank you, Wilma.” Marguerite’s heart warmed at the housekeeper’s words. She knew Leonard did this every day, a small but constant reminder that he still cared for her.

Laura’s voice crackled with an excitement Marguerite hadn’t heard in a long time. She sounded genuinely happy, radiant even.

“Is that so? Laura, that’s wonderful news! I told you two would be a good match. All you had to do was relax and treat him like a friend. I think you have a real shot at this. Luke Zade has been single for years, always talking about some woman he could never have, but in all the time I’ve known him, I’ve never once heard him mention who she is or what she means to him. I really don’t think it’s as big a deal as he makes it out to be. You have a real chance.”
