Marguerite had always known they would be good for each other if they just spent enough time together. Laura’s constant presence at his bedside would surely make him see all her wonderful qualities.
Laura was a kind, ambitious, and incredibly diligent person. More than that, she was thoughtful and knew how to take care of people. They would complement each other perfectly.
Luke had been her friend for years, so she knew him inside and out. He was usually carefree, never letting things bother him and often taking a casual approach to problems.
But Laura was different. She was attentive to every detail, always striving to make the people around her happy.
They were a perfect match. For some reason, Luke had always resisted letting anyone new into his life, using the excuse of being in love with someone else. But now, things seemed to be changing.
“Ms. Taylor, do you think I’m being too forward?” Laura’s voice was suddenly laced with doubt. “Spending every day here taking care of him… is it too much? I try to keep my distance, I really do, but whenever I’m near him, I just can’t seem to contain myself.”
When Marguerite’s family was in crisis, Laura had single-handedly kept the company afloat without a single word of complaint. Now that Laura finally had a chance at happiness, Marguerite was determined to support her in every way she could. She’d always thought Laura was a bit inexperienced when it came to romance, but it seemed she was doing just fine on her own.
