Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 372

Aaron was resolute, his tone firm. Things had to go according to his plan. Mrs. Murphy *had* to give the company to Antony.

“Stop being such a pessimist,” he warned Edith. “When this is all over, you’ll see that I was right.” He couldn’t stand her negativity or the look on her face.

“Alright, both of you, stop arguing,” Baron interjected, stepping between them. “These things take time. We have to be patient. Getting her to accept Antony is a process. Panicking won’t help. The most important thing right now is for us to stick together so we can fight our common enemy.”

It was as if they had all unanimously decided that Leonard was the enemy, the target of all their schemes. Baron was getting a headache from their constant bickering.

“He’s right,” Aaron said, turning back to his wife. “We need to be a united front. What’s the point of arguing with me all day? Can you think of a better plan? If not, then keep your opinions to yourself.”

He was truly at the end of his rope. For years, their marriage had felt like a business arrangement, a bond forged by mutual interest. They were tied together, but the affection had long since faded. The only reason they were still married was because of Mrs. Murphy’s ultimatum: if they divorced, they wouldn’t see a penny of the family fortune. She had already suffered the public humiliation of her younger son’s unhappy marriage abroad; she was determined not to see her older son’s family fall apart as well.

“If you can get on her good side, I’m sure she’ll seriously consider giving the company to you and your son.”

Aaron had been planning this for a long time. He trusted his instincts. He was certain he was right.
