Goodbye My Arrogant Ex novel Chapter 49

Benjamin stormed forward and blocked their path, his voice sharp with anger. “So that’s why you’ve been so determined lately, Marguerite. No wonder. You already found yourself a backup, didn’t you?”

He was furious, but beneath the anger was something else—a bitter sense of disbelief he couldn’t quite put into words.

Sure, Marguerite had been at odds with him for weeks, but he’d always chalked it up to her being upset, just a phase. It wasn’t until this moment that he realized: her heart was already with someone else.

Marguerite’s lips curled into a cold, almost mocking smile.

All this time together, and he’d never even known she had an older brother.

She’d broken ties with her family for him, walked out on everything she knew, and Benjamin had always assumed she was just an ordinary woman from an ordinary background.

He’d never bothered to ask about her family, never tried to get to know them, never made an effort to be accepted by them. Only now did it hit him—he’d never really cared about her at all.

Hogan watched the drama unfold with a cool, detached gaze. What a coincidence, he thought. He’d barely stepped off the plane and already run into the very man he’d been looking for.

“So what?” Hogan replied, his voice icy. “Aren’t you getting married yourself? Who are you to judge?” Marguerite slipped her arm through Hogan’s, feigning intimacy, her eyes defiant.

Benjamin was shaking with rage, his fists clenched so tight the veins stood out on his arms. He looked as if he could barely restrain himself from punching Hogan right then and there.

“Going behind my back to find another man—how shameless can you get?” Benjamin spat, humiliated and furious, saying whatever cruel words came to mind.

Marguerite just stared at him, more amused than offended by his outburst.

To Hogan, Benjamin was nothing more than a clown putting on a tantrum for an unwilling audience.
