Goodbye My Arrogant Ex novel Chapter 87

Marguerite couldn’t help but feel guilty—it was so late already, and she hated the thought of Leonard sacrificing his time for her.

He was always busy. As head of the Murphy family, there were endless matters demanding his attention every single day.

“There was an emergency meeting tonight that I had to sort out. It won’t be this late again tomorrow,” Leonard said.

Of course, he didn’t tell her that the only reason he was delayed was because he’d come to pick her up.

This reassurance settled Marguerite’s nerves, easing some of the anxiety weighing on her heart.

“You should go to bed. Don’t wait up for me,” Leonard said softly.

Marguerite knew there was nothing she could do to help. It was better to head to bed instead of getting in his way.

Before she knew it, morning had arrived.

Leonard’s driver dropped her off at her parents’ house. By the time she woke, Leonard was already gone—off to handle some urgent business, or so he’d told her. He’d texted her, promising to come by as soon as he finished up.

When she got home, her mother had set out a bowl of her favorite fruit, waiting patiently for her to return.

“My dear, I heard all about what happened last night at their house. Edith—she’s always been sharp-tongued and bitter to everyone, and you know she’s never stopped eyeing the family fortune,” Mrs. Taylor said as she handed Marguerite a slice of pear.

“It’s not really anyone’s fault, though. Leonard is just too outstanding. He’s the one his grandmother truly trusts, which is why she chose him to take over the inheritance. But you don’t need to worry about any of that. I know Leonard well—he can handle it.”
