I Owe the Tyrant Four Little Heirs novel Chapter 118

Niamh sat down and met Jareth’s gaze. His eyes, too, were different—the usual coldness was gone.

“Niamh, how did you convince Isa?” Jareth asked before she could speak.

Niamh was confused. Convince Isa of what? She had no idea what he was talking about.

“Isa agreed to my price and sent the contract over to the office,” he explained.

Niamh’s eyes lit up, and she jumped to her feet. “Really?”

“Yes.”

“That’s wonderful!” she exclaimed, nearly bouncing with excitement.

Jareth gave her a sidelong glance. She’s just an assistant. She won’t get any commission from this deal, so what is she so happy about?

Still, he had to admit, today’s contract was entirely thanks to her. He had been ready to give up. He knew what Isa was like, but she had just called to tell him that he had Niamh to thank for this deal.

“Niamh, you were instrumental today,” Jareth said.

Hearing those words, Niamh’s heart sank. He had said the same thing when the company signed the deal with William two days ago. After a long-winded speech, her “reward” had been a paltry twenty dollars.

“Mr. Bragg, I was just doing my job as an assistant,” she said humbly.

All she really wanted was for him to stop giving her such a hard time. Anything else was a bonus. Of course, if he would forgive her fifty-thousand-dollar debt, that would be even better.
