I Owe the Tyrant Four Little Heirs novel Chapter 146

Niamh draped the tie around his neck, but when she started to form the knot, she froze.

“What’s wrong?” Jareth asked, noticing her hesitation.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Bragg,” she said, her face flushing with embarrassment. “I… I don’t know how.”

Jareth’s voice was laced with disdain. “You can’t even tie a tie? How do you expect to take care of a man?”

“I have no intention of ever being with a man!” she retorted, her temper flaring. “And if I were, I’d find one who can take care of himself! I’m looking for a partner, not a master to serve.”

Jareth knew she was indirectly insulting him, but for some reason, he didn’t feel angry. Instead, he said softly, “How about I introduce you to someone, Ms. Lynn?”

She knew he was testing her. “Thank you for the kind offer, Mr. Bragg,” she replied formally, “but right now, my only focus is on raising my children. I’m not considering anything else.” Before he could say another word, she quickly added, “Mr. Bragg, do you still want me to tie this, or would you rather do it yourself?”

“You’re my secretary,” he growled. “If you don’t do it, who will?”

Niamh was speechless. She’d never heard of a secretary being responsible for tying the CEO’s tie. “But I really don’t know how,” she said, exasperated.

“I’ll teach you.”

He then demonstrated how to tie a Windsor knot. After he finished, he began to undo it, asking, “Did you get that, Ms. Lynn?”

Niamh couldn’t believe it. He knew perfectly well how to do it himself, so why make her tie it after he’d already finished? Wasn’t this just making things difficult for no reason?
