I Owe the Tyrant Four Little Heirs novel Chapter 24

Gritting her teeth, she lifted the sheet of paper and forced herself to read it. It was an IOU.

It stated that Niamh had damaged Jareth’s Lexus and, after negotiation, had agreed to pay fifty thousand dollars in damages. Since she couldn’t pay upfront, the amount would be deducted from her monthly salary.

This man is a loan shark, she thought furiously. Twenty thousand had ballooned to fifty thousand. He was worse than a predator. And when had they negotiated? He had dictated every single term.

“Of course, you don’t have to pay with money,” Jareth offered, his voice a low purr. “You can always… pay me back in other ways. We can call it two hundred dollars a night.”

Pay him back with her body? For two hundred dollars a night? Is that all he thinks she’s worth?

“Pervert!” she spat. If she had a weapon, she would have stabbed him.

A slow, cruel smile spread across Jareth’s face.

He didn't know why, but bullying her was deeply satisfying. Watching her fume, knowing she was powerless against him, brought him a strange sense of pleasure. And now that she knew his secret, he had no intention of ever letting her go.

His life was a monotonous cycle of work, but tormenting this woman… this was interesting.

Niamh snatched a pen and signed her name. What else could she do? A paint job on a brand-new Lexus probably did cost a fortune. She’d just have to swallow her pride, pay off this ridiculous debt, and get away from this monster as fast as she could.

The moment she finished, Jareth snatched the paper from her. He glanced at it, then leveled his gaze at her.
