I Owe the Tyrant Four Little Heirs novel Chapter 73

Just as he was about to look away, Niamh suddenly lifted her head, her eyes meeting his.

“Mr. Bragg, what is it?” she asked, confused. “Why are you staring at me?”

“Is there something on my face?” She self-consciously touched her cheek.

Caught off guard by her clear, direct gaze, Jareth quickly averted his eyes. “I wasn’t looking at you,” he snapped. “You’re not that interesting to look at. I was looking at the scenery outside.”

“Oh, really?” Niamh said, believing him. “Do you want to switch seats? You’d get a better view.”

“No, I’m tired of looking,” he said impatiently, closing his eyes and turning away from her.

Niamh shrugged and put her notebook back in her bag. She then took out her phone and started taking pictures of the view.

The clicking sound of the camera shutter grated on Jareth’s nerves.

“Niamh, can you please not act like you’ve never seen the world before?” he grumbled. It was unbearable. “You can find thousands of pictures like that online, you know.”

Niamh bit her lip. Was she bothering him just by taking pictures?

She leaned forward and saw his annoyed expression.

With a sigh, she put her phone away. It was better not to provoke him. She decided to try and get some sleep herself. She hadn't slept well the night before either, tossing and turning until after three in the morning, only to be plagued by nightmares of Jareth finding new and creative ways to torment her on this trip. In one particularly vivid dream, he had pinned her down, and she had woken up in a cold sweat.

Just as she closed her eyes, she felt a familiar discomfort in her stomach. She needed to use the restroom.

“Mr. Bragg, I’m going to the restroom,” she announced.
