I Slapped My Fiancé—Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis novel Chapter 388

388 Honeymoon: Plus Two

Five years later

Daddy!

Mummy!

The two little troublemakers flung the door open and shouted at the top of their lungs.

Ashton and I were caught off guard, scrambling to get up.

Our faces were flushed, hair and collars a mess, and there were several very visible hickeys on my neck.

We both froze in mortified silence.

Minnie and Mickey stared at us with wide eyes, rooted to the spot.

Minnie scrunched up her face. Daddy, are you biting Mummy?

Mickey stared at her. What? Biting? He’s clearly kissing her.

He’s biting,Minnie insisted. Look, her neck’s all swollen. That must hurt.

Mickey sighed. That just means Daddy was kissing her a bit too hard.

The daddy in question was standing there with an icy look in his eyes.

I cleared my throat and hurried to fix my clothes as I walked over, forcing a shaky smile. ‘Sweethearts, you’re home early.

Minnie’s eyes filled with concern. Mummy, does Daddy bully you like this all the time?

UmMy face burned even hotter.

Minnie looked as if she might cry. She ran forward and wrapped herself around my leg. Mummy, Daddy’s so mean. Let’s leave him. I’ll protect you. I won’t ever let anyone hurt you.

Behind me, Ashton ground out through clenched teeth, low enough that only I could hear, Have they not done any basic sex ed in that kindergarten?

I burst out laughing.

When Minnie was born, she clung to Ashton more than me. But as she got older, she grew more attached to me. It started the day she asked Ashton to wear her precious princess dress and he flatly refused.

Ashton put on his most serious face. Daddy’s not bullying Mummy. Daddy’s loving Mummy.

Minnie tightened her grip around me and glared at him, clearly unconvinced.

Ashton sighed and rubbed his forehead. This is what love between adults looks like. You’ll understand when you’re older.

Minnie blinked at him, then looked up at me. Is that true?

I nodded, my cheeks still hot.

We’d really been caught redhanded by the kids. I wanted to bury myself in the floor.

Minnie frowned but eventually decided to trust me. She bowed her head a little and muttered, Sorry, Daddy. I

misunderstood.

Ashton let out a relieved breath and ruffled her hair. It’s all right. But you need to remember, Daddy loves Mummy very much. I’d never hurt her.

Minnie thought for a second, then nodded firmly, a smile spreading across her face.

Ashton smiled too. Right, since you’re both here, Daddy has something to tell you.’

Huh?Minnie and Mickey tilted their heads.

Ashton cleared his throat. Mummy and I are going on holiday to Sereia Cay. While we’re away, you’ll need to behave and listen to Aunt Yvaine and Uncle Cassian. No mischief, understood?

Before the kids could react, I turned to him sharply. We’re not taking them with us?

That was not what I pictured when he mentioned a honeymoon. We’d been married for years but never had one, what with his work, mine, and then the kids starting school. When he finally brought it up, I was excited, but I thought it would be a family trip. 1

Ashton looked genuinely surprised. You mean we should take the kids?

Of course.

But it’s our honeymoon. Honeymoon means just the couple. Who brings the kids?

I frowned. No. I can’t just dump the kids at home while we go off enjoying ourselves. I won’t do it.

Ashton clenched his jaw, clearly reluctant, but I wasn’t budging. If he didn’t agree, there’d be no honeymoon. Eventually, he gave in. Fine. We’ll take them.

His shoulders slumped, his voice suddenly flat.
