I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra) novel Chapter 114

Steven’s handsome face was cold and hard. A smirk played on his lips, a hint of malice in it.

“I want you.”

Ugh, the ugly face of capitalism was infuriating. If I had any money at all, I would have quit on the spot. If he pushed me any further, I’d show him what happens when you bring your wife along on a trip to chase another woman.

I gritted my teeth and looked at Myron, my expression a clear warning. “What do you say?”

Myron started coughing again, his charming eyes pleading with me. “Zephyra, my company is deeply tied to Steven’s. He’s an investor. This trip is for a major partnership negotiation, and he needs a designer who knows the business. He came to us to borrow someone. It’s only right that I provide him with an employee. Now that Somania has ‘resigned,’ and he doesn’t approve of anyone else… Zephyra, please, just help him out this once. Will you go?”

I knew Myron and Steven were close, and their companies were intertwined, but I had no idea this playboy was so deferential to Steven. I always thought he enjoyed seeing Steven in trouble, that he wasn’t afraid of him at all.

I scowled, my grip on my pen so tight it was about to snap. “I have work to do here. I don’t want to go.”

Myron leaned in close, whispering, “Zephyra, the proposal you submitted yesterday is solid. Jacob can handle the rest. Think of this as a paid business trip. Steven is loaded. You can go abroad and make him spend a fortune. Buy all the luxury goods, eat at fancy restaurants. Don’t let your pride get in the way of a good time, right?”

“Don’t try to bribe me. Do I look like the kind of person who’s easily swayed by money?” I shot him an indignant look, then my tone shifted. “Are you sure it’s a paid vacation?”

My salary was substantial, amounting to over two thousand a day. The longer the trip, the more I’d earn.

Myron’s roguish face broke into a grin. “Absolutely.”

Steven’s handsome face was impassive. “Give me Somania’s phone number. I’ll contact him myself.”

Myron tensed. “Right. I’ll have HR look it up for you.”

Steven gave a curt nod.

My curiosity got the better of me. I looked at him, my eyes wide. “Why are you so determined to find Somania? Is she that important to you?”
