I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra) novel Chapter 13

I stared at him, dumbfounded. “Steven, after all this, you still think I’m throwing a tantrum?”

How many times had I told him I wanted a divorce? I’d even signed the papers. And he still thought this was a game?

Steven stood tall, but he leaned down slightly, his voice low. “Zephyra, playing hard to get is interesting once. The second or third time, it just gets tiresome.”

“When you’re done with this act, come home. Don’t push my patience. It’s not unlimited.”

I looked at his grim, unreadable face and suddenly, I had to laugh. “Steven, could you please stop being so arrogant? You’re not the center of the universe. Do you really think I can’t survive without you?”

“And let me say this one last time: I am divorcing you. This isn’t a tantrum. I’m serious.”

Steven’s cool, handsome features hardened, his dark eyes turning to ice.

“Isn’t this all about money? How much do you want this time? Name your price. I don’t have time to waste on this, and don't you dare try to embarrass me in front of others.”

His words hit me like a slap. I felt a wave of humiliation, the same kind I had felt so many times in my past life. He always looked down on me from his pedestal, crushing my self-respect.

A surge of anger I didn't know I had erupted within me, and I shoved him hard. “I told you, I don’t want your money! Steven, stop projecting your own twisted mindset onto me! Did you even read the divorce papers? Where did it say I wanted a single cent from you?!”

Caught off guard, Steven actually stumbled back a step. His face was a thunderous mask of fury. Myron, however, let out a delighted snort of laughter.

“Well. Steven, getting told off. And arguing with a woman, no less. This is truly a sight to see.”

Steven’s jaw tightened as he shot Myron a death glare. Myron fell silent again, but not before giving me a thumbs-up.
