I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra) novel Chapter 142

Downstairs on the main floor, I saw Gordon up ahead and called out with a smile. “Gordon!”

I hadn’t seen much of him the past couple of days. He’d bring my meals, exchange a few words, and then leave, seeming much busier than before.

Gordon was holding two umbrellas. “Ma’am, it’s pouring outside, and the ground is slippery. Let me help you to the car.”

I smiled up at him from under my high heels, my eyes bright. “It’s okay, I can manage.”

Steven shot a look at both of us. “What are you dawdling for?”

Gordon had no choice but to hand me an umbrella. He opened his and escorted Steven to the car first. I followed right behind, getting in and sitting next to Steven.

The car ride was completely silent. I put on my headphones and scrolled through Tik Tok, pausing for a second too long on a video of a handsome guy lifting his shirt to show off his abs. Suddenly, my phone was snatched from my hand.

I looked up to see Steven glancing at the screen with a sneer before turning it off.

I frowned. “Steven, why did you turn off my phone?”

His voice was arctic. “You’re here representing the company. Don’t watch such mindless, vulgar trash in public.”

I gritted my teeth. “As if you’re so high and mighty. Don’t you look at beautiful women?”

“No.”

Like I’d believe that.

Furious, I tried to grab my phone back, but his grip was like iron. I would have had to pry his fingers open one by one. “Give me back my phone.”

Steven shot me a sidelong glance and finally relented, handing it over with a stern warning.

After Steven finished speaking with the project director, he turned to me. “Well?”

I nodded, picking up various accessories and giving him my analysis. “Overall, everything looks good. I’ve seen the samples, and they’re genuinely innovative. The designer is very professional. If they could integrate some other elements down the line, they could capture an even bigger market.”

Steven’s eyes darkened slightly, a hint of suspicion in his gaze. “So you actually know what you’re talking about.”

I couldn’t help but smile. The bastard had never believed I could design. Fine, let him think I was useless. I had no desire to change his opinion of me.

Across the table, their team was conferring. Suddenly, they all looked at me. After a brief exchange, their translator turned to me.

“Ms. Jones, they’re asking if you studied design professionally back home. They also want to know if you have a professional alias… specifically, Somania?”
