I had a feeling that any normal man, accused of impotence in front of so many people, would want the ground to swallow him whole. For someone as wealthy and powerful as Steven, it had to be a thousand times worse. Seeing his face darken, I couldn’t help but smile. I had thought he was an untouchable ice king in his mother’s presence, indifferent to everything. But when the humiliation was directed at him, it turned out he cared after all.
“Yes,” I continued, my voice dripping with faux sympathy. “I didn’t want to say anything in public, to protect Steven’s pride, but…”
“That’s enough!” Mary cut me off, her face flushed with anger. “Haven’t you caused enough of a scene?”
I smiled back. “I was just afraid you wouldn’t believe me. And since you love to tell everyone I’m barren, I felt I had to clear my name, don’t you think?”
Mary was so furious she was practically vibrating, and I suspected that if we were alone, she would have slapped me. It was the usually stern Mr. Sean Lancaster who finally spoke, his voice heavy. “That’s enough. Let the children handle their own affairs. Stop meddling. Sit down and eat.”
Mary, seething but unable to lash out in front of everyone, shot a look at Steven, who sat with his lips pressed into a thin line. She scrambled for an excuse. “Steven is innocent. He’s never had a girlfriend and he’s so busy with work… he just hasn’t learned yet. It’s definitely not that he can’t. Young couples… honestly.”
The guests quickly agreed, some even offering to send Steven links to articles and videos, all eager to act as his tutors in the art of lovemaking. Steven, his handsome face set in a grim mask, gritted his teeth and declined their offers. Thomas’s expression was a mixture of horror and morbid curiosity, as if he were genuinely contemplating his brother’s supposed inadequacy.
Watching Steven’s face turn a shade of angry green, I had to bite back a laugh. Finally, some justice. In my past life, I was the only one who suffered while he sat by and watched. This time, no one was getting off easy. I had nothing to lose. It was the rich who had reputations to protect. Today’s “virginity” certificate was more than enough to tarnish theirs. Besides, I wasn’t even lying. Steven really was terrible in bed. In our past life, when we finally did sleep together, he was clumsy and rough, all thrusts and no finesse, like flipping a pancake over and over. It was often painful for me.
I placed a piece of steak on his plate. “Eat up,” I said sweetly. “Beef is good for your… vitality. We can think about children once you’re feeling better.”
