That felt good.
Getting a divorce was liberating. Once you stop caring, you’re afraid of no one.
From now on, anyone who wanted to put up with that kind of abuse was welcome to it. I was out.
After such an eventful day, I was exhausted and quickly fell asleep. When I woke up, it was already ten at night.
I went downstairs to find the villa shrouded in darkness. Clearly, just like in my past life, Steven had no intention of coming home.
A mocking smile touched my lips. I was used to it. I quietly cleaned up the dishes from my earlier meal and then cooked myself a proper, delicious dinner.
I would never again let another person cause me to starve myself or neglect my own well-being.
Once I had eaten my fill, I packed a bag without a second’s hesitation. I left the villa I had once so lovingly decorated and checked into a hotel for the night.
Tomorrow, besides the divorce, I had something incredibly important to do.
And it was something that absolutely could not fail.

The next morning, I was jolted awake by a call from Steven.
“Zephyra!” His voice, tight with anger, crackled through the phone. “What did you say to my mother last night?”
I rubbed my groggy eyes and vaguely recalled my conversation with his mother. A laugh escaped me before I could stop it.
“What did I say? Sounds like you already know.”
“By the way, when is your mom taking you to the doctor?”
There was a long pause on his end. I could practically picture him, his face dark, his eyes shooting daggers.
Sure enough, when he spoke again, his voice was dangerously cold. “Zephyra, reverse psychology won’t work on me. I have no interest in sleeping with you.”
I stretched languidly, rolling over in bed.
