Julian lowered his gaze. His thick beard already obscured much of his face, but now his expression was completely unreadable. He didn't answer.
My brow furrowed. "Omar? That name sounds familiar. I feel like I've heard it somewhere."
Horace smiled at me. "He was a legend. Even if you don't follow chess, you might have heard his name. He came from a very wealthy and powerful family—a real titan in his own right."
I didn't know much about the world of professional chess, so I couldn't really grasp the scale of it. "Was he rich? I mean, was he as rich as Steven?"
Steven was on global wealth rankings, a true magnate whose influence stretched into every corner of the business world. Using him as a benchmark would give me a better idea of where this Omar stood.
Horace chuckled and gently tapped my head. "Zephyra, they're not in the same league. In terms of raw cash, it's not a fair comparison. But in terms of prestige? A businessman can fail a deal, but if Omar were to make a move in the chess world, no one would dare refuse him."
He paused, thinking. "Let's put it this way: not every rich person can get into that circle, but everyone at his level is, without a doubt, a member of the elite."
I gave him a thumbs-up. "Wow, he sounds incredible. It would be amazing to meet someone like that."
"He's just an ordinary man. Nothing special to meet," Julian said dismissively, but a flicker of emotion crossed his eyes. He looked at me, a rare light in his usually somber gaze, and patted my head.
"Do you like chess? I could teach you, just as a hobby."
I refused without a second thought. "No thanks, Uncle Julian. I have my own passion. Horace is the one who loves chess. Why don't you teach him?"
After all, Myron was paying me a fortune, and I had to make sure my work was worth every penny.
Horace, who was standing nearby, looked up. His clear eyes rippled with excitement, and he turned to Julian with hopeful anticipation.
