I Welcome Your Rejection: Angel Kings’ Proud Mate novel Chapter 29

Ira’s Pov

I step out of the massive bath tub and wrap a towel around my shivering body. The water was cold and I wish I didn’t have to bathe. I was brought to this opulent chambers that I suspect belonged to queen Andria and I am beyond disgusted. The massive bed smells of her perfumes and the closet is full of her exquisite dresses. I slept on a chair near the fireplace just to avoid the breathing in her odour.

I may be the unwanted, ugly commoner here but I find evil more repulsive. However the world seems to disagree so far.

I wonder where they are keeping her as she waits for them to drain my blood. Now that Lior seemed to have given up on helping me I am most desperate to find my own way out of this beautiful hell. The servants are yet to speak about the secret entrance again in my presence. They still look down on me so I am confident that they will keep talking about their secrets without minding my presence.

I walk back to the bedroom where the two servants wait and slip my long-sleeved, high-neck dress back on despite having worn it yesterday and the day before. I would have to be dead before any of Queen Andria’s expensive clothes touches my skin.

“Look at all the scars on it’s body! The angel kings should have killed it once and for all. What’s bthe point in keeping something so ugly in this palace?” one of the servants says.

“They wouldn’t do so if they have no use for it. I have a feeling that they haven’t told us everything,” her counterpart answers.

I think their evil minds are uglier than my scars. I would say so if my goal wasn’t to make them think that I am weak and retarded.

“Come, the kings wants to see that you’re still alive. Keep your stupid head bowed,” one says and they make their way out. Their witch hasn’t arrived already, has it? No carriages entered the palace gates last night, that I am sure of. So there is hope that the angel kings aren’t ready to kill me yet.

I follow the servants, taking note of all the paths of the Palace. I imagine that the secret entrance must be an underground tunnel, with a doorway that can be easily accessed by officials of the palace at a time if crisis. I wonder which of the paths leads to it.

The servants lead me into a spacious dining room with the most ornate furniture. The angel kings sit around a wide, circular table laid with salvory foods and fine drinks. I haven’t had anything to eat since arriving here yesterday despite their promises that I would have lots of good food and gifts. What kind of pathetic kings lies about food?

They smile like sweet gentlemen as we approach the table and the servants bows their heads in respect. I just look away, feeling my anger surging at the sight of the pretentious kings.

“Why is she still in that dress and looking so pale?” King Adon questions.

The servants look a bit anxious. “Zilla said that the new chambers and everything inside should be preserved for your next queen. She pointed out that the human cannot wear those fancy dresses anyway as her ugly scars would be visible to guests and would cause shame to this palace,” one answers.

The smiles on the faces of the kings disappear. So there were other chambers meant for me? What about food, was there any? “So you chose to not only disobey our orders but also disrespect our guest?” angel Tiras questions in range. “Your heads shall be cut off once you apologize to her,” he states.

The servants gasps in horror. He would kill their servants for this stupid pretence? That would mess my plan.

“But… we had to obey Zilla as you told us to since she is in charge of, your majesty. We had no idea that she chose to disobey you,” one of the servants falls to her knees and begs. The others join her.

“Get Zilla now,” Angel Ronen orders. The servants rush out and I wish I can go with them.

Angel Adon rises and pulls a chair for me. “Please sit. You need to eat something to look better,” he offers.

“Your majesties, I have come to explain my decision to keep a crazy and dirty human out of nice chambers fit for a beautiful queen,” she says after bowing her head.

That seems to enrage the angel kings despite bthe fact that they have been pretending to want me back.

King Tiras gestures at the other servants to leave the room and they hurriedly do so. He rises from his seat with a bread knife in hand and makes his way towards Zilla.

“So you made a decision to mistreat our guest even after we made it clear that she is to be treated with utmost respect? By laws of this kingdom your punishment for disobeying us is death,” he says.

Zilla gasps in horror. “No! Please… forgive me!” she turns to run but does it too late as the angel steps hard on her leg, breaking it.

Her screams attracts the attention of the guards stationed at the doorway and they rush in.

“Carry her out and cut her head off. Let the rest see the consequences of disobeying us,” the angel orders and soldiers nod in eagerness.

I am utterly terrified. Death by beheading is such a harsh punishment for disobedience, especially when she did it in hope that her decision would please them.
