Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 329

The new project lead… and he was making it so obvious how much he favored her.

Kristen couldn’t help but picture Will in her mind, a self-satisfied smile tugging at her lips.

“Thanks for all your help, Emmery. I’ll be counting on you from now on too.”

Emmery clearly didn’t want to dwell on that. “By the way, Ms. Watts, since this project is government-level confidential, we’ll need a detailed report on your family members, your family’s assets, and where the money comes from. It’s standard background screening.”

“No problem,” Kristen agreed without missing a beat.

As soon as the call ended, Kristen could barely keep her excitement in check.

She’d put the phone on speaker midway, so Bianca, sitting right next to her, heard every word loud and clear.

Bianca looked at her with proud approval, her eyes shining. “That’s my daughter. I bet Will had a hand in this. You really are the one he can’t forget, his one and only.”

Kristen snuggled up to Bianca’s arm, acting sweet. “It’s all thanks to you, Mom. If you hadn’t pushed me to show up when Will hit rock bottom, he wouldn’t have been thinking about me all these years.”

Bianca nodded. “Keep Will interested. He’s still got his uses.”

“Don’t worry, Mom, I know exactly what to do.” Kristen’s smile faded as she thought of Amelia, jealousy flickering in her eyes. “But Mom, we can’t let that troublemaker Amelia stick around. She’s been cozying up to Clive lately, and even the kids are starting to like her. I’m worried…”

“There’s nothing to worry about,” Bianca said calmly, rolling her prayer beads between her fingers. There was a veiled satisfaction in her voice. “The person who can get rid of Amelia is already on their way to Alson Creek. That woman won’t be a problem for much longer.”

“Clive, I’m running late today,” she’d complained. “Still collecting group assignments—Ryan forgot his again. And since I’m the group leader, I’ll lose points too. There goes my shot at the top scholarship.”

“Ryan is just impossible…”

All those little complaints Amelia used to make, the helpless way she’d talk about him, now echoed in Clive’s mind as he stared at the photo. It finally made sense—Amelia and Ryan had known each other since college.

“Hey! I’m talking to you.” The curator walked over and clapped a hand on Clive’s shoulder.

“Are you a professor here, or maybe a visiting advisor?”

Clive turned, his handsome face clouded with frustration. He forced out, “I don’t work here.”
