Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 485

Kristen couldn’t believe it. She’d spent days preparing, only to get completely humiliated by Dr. Borgen. She stood there, frozen, digging her nails into her palms so hard it hurt.

Dr. Borgen didn’t even bother to hide his impatience. “Ms. Watts, this is a family dinner. I’m going to have to ask you to leave.”

Kristen fought to keep her cool, forcing a tight, polite smile. “Of course. I won’t keep you any longer, Dr. Borgen. I’m sure we’ll have plenty of chances to talk in the future.”

He didn’t even look at her. Swallowing her pride, Kristen turned around and left the room.

She barely made it down the hall before Bailey came hurrying out of their private room, practically bursting with curiosity.

“How did it go, Kristen? Did Dr. Borgen accept your paper? When can you introduce my father to him?”

Earlier, Kristen had promised them a surprise—she’d said she could help the Salmeron family connect with Dr. Borgen.

Clive and Bailey hadn’t been quite sure whether to believe her. After all, everyone knew Amelia used to be Dr. Borgen’s star student.

But Kristen had sounded so confident.

“That was all in the past,” she’d insisted. “Dr. Borgen can’t stand Amelia now. Plus, I’m close with Susie—one of his favorite students. I already showed her my paper. It fits perfectly with Dr. Borgen’s current research, and she really liked it.”

Clive knew Kristen and Susie talked often. With his backing, Bailey had started to see Kristen as the perfect future daughter-in-law. If Kristen could actually become Dr. Borgen’s student, that would be huge for the family.

Dr. Borgen was just as well-known as Dr. Wade—maybe even more respected. He was famously hard to please and had a reputation for being almost untouchable. If Kristen could get accepted as his student, it would open up so many doors for the Salmeron family, especially with government connections.

Kristen could see the hope practically shining in Bailey’s eyes.
