Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 487

Francisco spun around fast, pretending to rub his eyes.

“Must’ve gotten something in my eye. Can’t see a thing,” he muttered.

Amelia just stared at him, completely unimpressed. She didn’t bother arguing. Instead, she let go of Ryan’s shirt and reached for his wrist, trying to check his pulse. But this time, Ryan—the same guy who’d been weirdly cooperative earlier—suddenly wouldn’t play along.

Amelia’s strength was no match for Ryan’s. No matter how many times she tried, she couldn’t get a hold of his arm. She was getting frustrated, but when she glanced down, all she saw was Ryan’s feverish, dazed face—so lost and innocent that she just couldn’t bring herself to get mad at him.

Turning to Francisco, she said, “Francisco, the bruises on Ryan’s arm look like they’re from a needle.”

Francisco, as Ryan’s personal assistant, should’ve known every detail about his boss.

“Oh, Mr. Packman wasn’t feeling well earlier. They took some blood for tests,” he answered.

Amelia didn’t buy it.

“You drew blood from the brachial artery in his upper arm. That’s arterial blood, not venous. Routine tests only need venous blood. It’s easier and safer. Why did you need arterial blood? What exactly was wrong with him?”

Francisco went silent, clearly caught off guard by her knowledge.

“I think you’ll have to ask the family doctor about that, Ms. Sadinton. I really don’t know,” he stammered.

Amelia pressed her lips together and looked over at Ryan on the couch, ready to question him—but then her phone rang. It was the call she’d been waiting for.

Danny from the care home.

“Miss Amelia, the Watts family is on the move!”

Amelia had no choice but to put Ryan on hold. “Okay, I’m on my way.”

She quickly told Francisco that Ryan had already taken his fever meds, gave Ryan one last glance—he looked half asleep on the sofa—then hurried out.

As soon as she was gone, Ryan opened his eyes and sat up. His cheeks were still tinged red from the alcohol, but his eyes were sharp and clear.

He walked to the window, watching as Amelia drove away. Only when her car became a tiny dot in the distance did he finally turn back and settle onto the couch again.

Amelia’s first stop was West Medicine. As she rushed through the company doors, she didn’t notice the dull gray van parked in the shadows nearby. Inside, the driver had been waiting, eyes locked on her every move.

He picked up his phone right away. “Mr. Watts, Amelia’s here to pick up the medicine!”

Elsewhere, the Lin and Holt families had just finished dinner. During the meal, they’d settled on a date for the engagement party—two weeks from now. Afterward, the families split up, with Kristen dragging Clive off to shop for engagement rings.

Hank got the call while sitting in his car. After he listened, a smug smile crept onto his face, like everything was going exactly as he’d planned.

“Got it. Keep a close watch on her.”

“Yes, sir!”

The moment he hung up, Bianca leaned forward, anxious. “Well? Did Amelia get the new medicine?”

The driver, Bianca’s relative who’d worked for the family for years and helped them with all sorts of things, was definitely on their side.
