Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 488

Hank didn’t hesitate anymore.

“We’ve got it. And Tony? He’s never going to get the chance to eat it,” he said, his voice cool and certain.

Bianca bit her lip, worry slipping into her tone. “Are you sure the nurse we planted is actually reliable?”

Hank’s eyes narrowed. “Danny’s suspicious by nature. If Christine wasn’t solid, there’s no way he’d have let her stay this long.”

A year ago, Hank had stumbled across Tony wandering the streets, completely out of it. Before he could do anything, someone else scooped Tony up and drove away. Hank tried to follow but lost them in traffic.

He’d spent months—really, almost a year—trying to track Tony down. He finally traced him to this private care facility, but there was no getting in from the outside.

That’s when Hank switched gears. If he couldn’t get close himself, he’d get someone else inside.

He’d been careful, handpicking a few nurses to apply for jobs there. In the end, Christine, a middle-aged nurse with more than twenty years of experience, got the position. She became his eyes and ears.

Through Christine, Hank confirmed Tony was suffering from full-blown dementia. The old man was a shadow—confused, harmless, basically forgotten. Hank stopped worrying about him and just let him be.

Over time, Christine had earned Danny’s trust. She was professional, steady, and knew her stuff. Eventually, Danny put her fully in charge of Tony’s meals.

But there was still one thing Hank couldn’t figure out: who was really behind the facility? He wanted Christine to dig up the truth, but months passed and they got nowhere. Even Danny and his son Patrick didn’t seem to know who was funding everything.

Then Amelia made her breakthrough—she’d created a drug that might actually help Tony. Suddenly, Hank couldn’t wait any longer.

He texted Christine: Do it.

Inside the care facility, Danny made his usual rounds and stopped at Tony Sadinton’s room. Tony’s condition had gotten worse. He just sat in his chair by the window, staring off into space.

He looked so thin now, back hunched, his whole body curled up like a shrimp.
