Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 489

Christine went pale in an instant.

How did he find out?

She’d been so careful, dodging every camera. The kitchen had eyes everywhere, not a single place to hide. That’s why she waited until they brought the soup into the hospital room. She knew the only possible way was to act in that tiny blind spot, right where the camera couldn’t see.

Even if Danny had caught her, she could say it was just a supplement.

“Director, I swear, I’m innocent!” Christine steadied herself and put on her most hurt expression. “Why would I ever do anything to hurt Mr. Sadinton? I’ve worked here for years. Don’t you trust me?”

Just then, the bathroom door swung open. A cool, sharp voice cut through the tension.

“Innocent? Is that what you’re going with?”

Christine spun around, eyes wide. Amelia stepped out of the bathroom. Christine stared, frozen in shock.

“How are you—?”

“How did I get here so soon? That’s what you’re thinking, right?” Amelia smirked, her words echoing Christine’s panic. “According to what Hank told you, I shouldn’t be able to get here for at least another forty minutes.”

Patrick stepped out right behind her.

“You think just because you’ve been here a few months, you know everything?” His glare was icy, his anger barely restrained. “You only know what we want you to know. What you don’t realize is that there are secret tunnels all over this place that lead outside.”

Christine’s legs nearly gave out. She almost collapsed.

Still, she tried to bluff. “Ms. Sadinton, I don’t know what you’re talking about! I didn’t do anything—”

“Oh really?” Amelia’s face turned cold. In a flash, she snatched the soup bowl from Christine’s hands and grabbed her by the arm. Her voice was sharp and unyielding. “If you’re so innocent, why don’t you drink this soup yourself? Go on. Prove it.”

Christine went ghost-white as Amelia shoved the bowl close to her lips.

She was a nurse. She knew—just one sip, and it was over for her.
