Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 517

“As for you going shopping with her this afternoon, that was just because Miss Zoe Lennon said she’d go right home afterward. But of course, someone had to snap a photo, and now everyone’s imagination is running wild—people are even making up engagement rumors. Can you believe it, Ms. Sadinton?” Francisco looked at Amelia with hopeful eyes, practically begging her to see his side. His look was clear: I’ve explained it all for Mr. Packman, so there’s no way you could misunderstand now, right?

Amelia’s polite smile barely hid her amusement. That was such a clumsy way to change the subject.

“Well, I’ll head home now. Drive safe, you two.”

Ryan didn’t get in the car until he watched Amelia walk all the way into her building.

Francisco grinned. “See, Mr. Packman? I’m sure Ms. Sadinton won’t have any misunderstandings now! Oh, and how was dinner with her? Need my expert analysis?”

Ryan laughed. “Don’t flatter yourself. You’ve never even had a girlfriend—what are you going to analyze for me?”

Francisco’s mouth snapped shut. Like you have, he thought, but he didn’t dare say it out loud.

Ryan nudged the back of Francisco’s seat with his foot, sounding lazy and relaxed. “Just drive.”

They’d only been on the road a few minutes when Ryan’s phone buzzed with a message from Amelia. It was a photo of a handwritten prescription.

Princess: I just checked your pulse. This prescription should help. If it’s a hassle to brew the herbs every day, you can have the pharmacy prepare it ahead of time in packets. Drink it twice a day.

Ryan: Got it.

Francisco caught a glimpse of Ryan’s reflection in the rearview mirror and saw his boss grinning ear to ear.

Francisco glanced back. “What’s got you so happy, Mr. Packman?”

Ryan closed his eyes for a second, still smiling. “Starting tomorrow, I’m really going to take care of myself.”
