Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 519

Felix’s voice was as steady as ever. “It’s normal for the kid to get a good education. Anything extra—just transfer it from my personal account like always.”

“Yes, Mr. Baker.”

He could never shake the memory of her parents dying right before his eyes. Even now, sometimes he’d wake up in the middle of the night, heart pounding, haunted by dreams of that mission.

It got to the point where he barely dared to see the girl. But every year, he still sent her a generous red envelope, never missing one. When it came to material things, he was happy to make up for what she lacked. As long as she was safe and growing up well, that was enough for him.

“Mr. Baker, before you leave this time, would you like to visit her? Her name’s Jinx.”

“No.” Felix turned it down, just like always. After a moment, he added, “Maybe after I finish this mission.”

“Yes, Mr. Baker.”

On the other side of town, Caroline was still stewing after Felix had shot her down so coldly.

What did the Salmeron family ever do to piss off Felix?

She remembered Kristen telling her that Clive’s company might be working with Felix soon—they’d even all had dinner together. The only reason she’d rushed back home was because she heard Felix was back and wanted to find a way to get closer to him.

But before she even had a chance, Felix already disliked her?

Back when they were abroad, after Felix had saved her, he’d even been super polite—picked up her purse and told her to be careful. So what had changed?

Caroline couldn’t let it go. She called Clive, determined to get an answer.

“Clive, what did the Salmeron family do to upset Felix?”

Clive was still in his study, massaging his temples after a brutal online meeting. The second he heard his sister’s question, his headache came right back.

Meanwhile, Clive tossed his phone aside, feeling exhausted. He lay back and closed his eyes, drifting off. In that strange space between sleep and wakefulness, he thought he heard someone come in, footsteps soft by his side.

He forced his eyes open, and for a second, he thought he saw Amelia—she was picking up his files, flipping through them, looking at him with that gentle, worried expression.

Get some rest, honey. Let me handle this. You’ll just make yourself sick if you keep working all night.

Clive instinctively grabbed her hand, already whispering, “Amelia—”

“Clive?” Kristen’s voice jolted him back to reality. He blinked, fully awake. Amelia was gone; it was just Kristen, bringing him a plate of late-night snacks.

She was in pajamas, long hair tumbling over her shoulders. In the dim light, her silhouette had looked so much like Amelia’s for a second.

But she wasn’t Amelia.

No matter how kind she was, Kristen couldn’t help him solve the mess that his life had become.
