Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 570

Amelia had just woken up and was finishing her morning routine when Timmy burst through the door.

“Mom!” He ran straight into her arms.

She laughed and hugged him tight. “Morning, sweetheart.”

“Are you feeling better today? Does anything still hurt? Are you uncomfortable?” Timmy fired off his questions all at once, his face scrunched with worry.

Amelia’s heart melted. “I’m really fine, honey. I’ll get checked out again later and pick up some medicine. If everything looks good, I can go home this afternoon.”

Timmy’s whole face lit up. “That’s great! So you’ll sleep at home tonight, right?”

Amelia smiled at him, love shining in her eyes.

That’s when she noticed Donna holding a bouquet—yellow roses, beautifully wrapped, each one bright and perfect. It was obvious these weren’t Donna’s usual style.

“Donna, who are those from?” Amelia asked, catching Donna’s look of annoyance and awkwardness. Amelia already had a hunch.

Just as she thought—

“Salmeron sent them. We ran into him downstairs…” Donna replied, sounding less than thrilled.

Amelia’s voice was cool. “Please just throw them out.”

“Gladly.” Donna didn’t hesitate. She tossed the bouquet straight into the trash.

Timmy glanced at the insulated food container he’d carried in, hesitating as if he might toss it too.

Amelia noticed his struggle. Since Donna was holding their breakfast, it was easy to guess who’d sent the food.

“It’s okay. If you want to eat it, go ahead,” Amelia said softly, ruffling his hair.

No matter how she felt about Clive, she’d never force Timmy to stop loving his dad. Clive wasn’t perfect, but he wasn’t the worst either. To Timmy, he still mattered.

Timmy opened the food container and bit into a steamed bun.

“Dad said these are your favorite soup dumplings. He lined up to buy them for you. They’re so good!” Timmy said with his mouth full.

Amelia wiped the broth off his lips and said quietly, “If you like them, eat a few more.”

The irony stung. Back when she and Clive were together, she was the one waking up early and standing in line to buy these dumplings for him. Now, after the divorce, he was finally doing the same for her.

She glanced at the yellow roses in the trash, her annoyance growing. Too-late gestures were as useless as a summer quilt in winter or a fan in a snowstorm.

“Mom, do you want one?” Timmy held a bun up to her lips.

For once, Amelia shook her head firmly. “No, I’m good. If you can’t finish them, just throw them away.”

Timmy got it. Dad was out of the picture.

Donna rolled her eyes. “What a performance—one minute he’s the bad guy, the next he’s playing the doting ex. Salmeron should just join a theater company, the way he switches roles.”

After breakfast, while Amelia and Donna were talking, Timmy climbed onto the window ledge and peeked outside. Sure enough, his dad’s car was still there.

He pulled out his little phone and typed a quick message.
